I worked with engineering technicians to reconfigure a swing set and placed it in the public sphere. People were allowed to interact with the work. The structure was functional if people trusted each other to correlate and synchronize their swinging together. It promoted random interaction between strangers as well as people who knew each other and heightened relationships found in everyday life.
