Le projet Archisuit consiste en quatre vêtements de sport modifiés, adaptés à quatre lieux de Los Angeles : une bibliothèque publique de Hollywood, une palissade de Silver Lake, le Ronald Reagan State Building et des bancs publics du centre-ville. Les rembourrages de mousse des vêtements forment les vides des structures, et permettent à la personne qui les porte de s’installer confortablement dans ou sur des éléments urbains conçus pour dissuader ce genre d’usage. Dans la plupart des villes, on trouve de telles structures négatives destinées à favoriser la circulation des piétons et à prévenir toute occupation non prévue. « Testing Resistance » est une compilation des recherches réalisées dans le contexte du projet Archisuit pour documenter les interactions entre les structures piétonnes et le corps humain dans la région de Los Angeles. L’artiste Sarah Ross explore les concepts de sécurité, de santé et de propreté tels qu’ils se manifestent dans les espaces quotidiens.

took me a while to work out that the foam was part of the suit, but now I get it, I love this idea! I wonder if you could do it with a different kind of soft foam that would fit into any space, so that it didn't just have to be confined to the designated areas that are part of the project?
I like the idea but it seems like it was made for people who already have homes and place to sleep/rest.
Clark - That's a great idea. Using memory foam or something... to make one suit that is adaptable to every - or almost every - structure would be neat. Although, I really enjoy seeing the negative space that Sarah pays attention to when making the foam shapes within the suits.
